Global Social Compliance Programme: A Harmonised, Common and Consistent Reference for BEPI

Since its inception in 2014, the BEPI Framework facilitates good practice implementation and operational collaboration. The basis of the BEPI Framework is therefore built on reference material created through collaboration across industries: the GSCP Environmental Reference Tools.

Facilitated by The Consumer Goods Forum, the Global Social Compliance Programme (the GSCP) brings together key actors of the consumer goods industry to collaborate on a common goal: driving positive change and business efficiency in the areas of social and environmental sustainability along the supply chain.

Experts from various sectors and affiliations, including major retail companies, brand manufacturers, international organisations, academia and government, joined forces within the GSCP framework to deliver a harmonised, global approach for more efficient and sustainable supply chains.

Practically, the BEPI Framework is using the following elements of the GSCP Environmental Reference Tools:

  • Environmental Performance Areas
  • BEPI Producer Self-Assessment
  • BEPI Assessment and Performance Levels

  • A common language and set of requirements for all supply chain actors
  • A common approach through an integrated framework
  • Continued convergence
  • Shared effort and reduced cost
