FTA High-Level Mission to China

As a main sourcing country for FTA members, building stronger ties with China remains a top priority. FTA Director General, Christian Ewert, participated in several high-level trade and CSR events in Beijing and Shangai in December 2016, raising awareness about the association’s activities in the greater China region. The FTA team also included Pierre Gröning, Director of International Trade Policy; Joyce Chau, FTA Representative in China; and Ana María Martín, Media Relations Coordinator.

Below is a notable selection of the high-level meetings during the mission. For any questions or for more information, contact Joyce Chau.

  • FTA Trade Conference to improve EU-China trade relations and continue exploring the potential for an EU/China free trade agreement. After Christian Ewert delivered opening remarks, the results of a 2016 study on the EU and China trade relationship commissioned by FTA and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) was a focus of discussion. The conference was organised by FTA and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Beijing in follow up to the trade conference in April.

  • 9th International Conference on CSR Reporting in China to discuss European perspectives on CSR transparency for Chinese companies with global supply chains.
  • Joint workshop for BSCI participants and producers with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and the Zhejiang Province CSR Promotion Association.
