As a part of the BSCI Module on the UK Modern Slavery Act, BSCI has developed an easy guide to lead BSCI participants through the Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement requested to all companies impacted by this legislation.
The Statement must contain details of the steps that the organisation has taken to identify and eradicate modern slavery from both its own business and its supply chain. Our guide outlines these steps when responding to it and offers support on broader activities.
Introduced in 2015, the UK Modern Slavery Act was designed to prevent modern forms of slavery and protect victims. FTA secretariat has designed a module on this legislation to support BSCI participants in better understanding the risks of modern slavery and how to successfully report their efforts in identifying and eradicating it from both its own business and its supply chain.
The module also includes:
- A reporting template to provide clear guidance on how to plan and structure a Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement taking into consideration the activities within the BSCI system companies engage in;
- A comparison of the UK Modern Slavery Act and the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act for companies who are affected by both legislations (included in the easy guide); and
- Training to raise awareness about indicators, terminology and other critical elements of modern slavery.
