We are pleased to announce that amfori has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GLOBALG.A.P. This agreement marks the consolidation of a partnership that started in 2009 and stems from both organisations’ commitment to drive social sustainability in food and agricultural supply chains.
GLOBALG.A.P. is a farm assurance program that translates consumer requirements into good agricultural practices. amfori is a business association that offers trade, social and environment services to improve the resilience and sustainability of global supply chains.
The collaboration comes at a critical time as governments seek to strengthen human rights due diligence regulations and introduce mandatory requirements. It supports the efforts of businesses and farms in global supply chains to respect human rights and protect workers.
With this MoU, GLOBALG.A.P and amfori aim to enhance supply chain monitoring by facilitating the inclusion of the GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) in the sustainability practices of global retailers that are using amfori BSCI services. A digital solution to support this approach will be explored in 2021.
Farms that operate in global supply chains will benefit from the collaboration as it promotes audit readiness and enables access to the support services of both GLOBALG.A.P and amfori. Buyers will gain greater visibility and data on the sustainability performance of their business partners at primary production level.
Christian Ewert, amfori President, says, “We are proud to announce a collaboration that pioneers data exchange between two leading sustainability initiatives and enhances the monitoring and remediation efforts of our respective members.”
Kristian Moeller, GLOBALG.A.P. CEO, says, “We are delighted to join amfori in a partnership that will make it even easier for farms and supply chains to demonstrate their compliance with social regulations. Both amfori and GLOBALG.A.P. are dedicated to a sustainable future and we are proud to strengthen the cause together.”
