amfori’s Vision is a world where all trade delivers social, environmental and economic benefits for everyone. This vision is aligned with the global sustainable development agenda for 2030.
As the world is taking stock of where things stand during Global Goals Week, the key message always is that collaboration is the only way to get to the systemic changes needed to deliver the Sustainable Development 2030 Agenda. Associations, such as amfori, are called upon to bring businesses together and scale efforts to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
amfori now takes a first step in supporting its members in understanding how they contribute to the success of the global goals, by releasing a technical paper providing an initial mapping of possible alignment between amfori activities, services and tools with the UN SDGs.
Members who engage in performing an SDG mapping can use this document to cover their engagement with amfori. This mapping exercise is important when a company is seeking to understand the SDGs, integrate them into their strategy and corporate reporting, as explained in the SDG Compass developed by GRI, the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
In the coming months, we will provide practical tips on how to identify and integrate relevant SDGs into a company’s strategy and reporting.
In the future, our aim is to eventually start identifying relevant metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to define impact and SDG contribution.
