Despite the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic across multiple countries, amfori maintains positive engagement with stakeholders to support sustainable trade and responsible supply chain development in Asia.

In July, amfori Director APAC Ms. Joyce Chau met with Ms. Vu Thi Thuy, Commercial Consul of Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, and jointly exchanged the latest development of regional trade following the first anniversary of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

Vietnam is amfori Members’ fifth top sourcing country regarding main supplies of consumer products such as textiles, clothing, leather, accessories, forestry, wood, pulp and paper. Both sides look forward to closer collaborations to support businesses to weather the challenging time.

Ms. Vu has kindly extended an invitation to amfori Members to join the Video Conference on Promoting Sustainable Trade for Agricultural & Aquatic Products in the South & Central Highlands of Vietnam 2021 organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in August, at which a B2B matching was held for enterprises to explore business opportunities. Furthermore, amfori President Richard Dictus also delivered a keynote speech on the Impact of Climate Change at the 2nd Vietnam Symposium in International Business.

Since June 2021, amfori has been implementing a Supply Chain Grievance Mechanism programme 'Speak for Change (S4C)' in Vietnam. Interested Members may learn more here
