On 6 August amfori and the Confederation of Indian Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Dehli agreeing to enhance liaison and cooperation in the areas of open and sustainable trade in order to improve the sustainability of supply chains and enable a policy environment that supports the success of their members and the sustainability of their operations. Both parties agree to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to recognize that corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays an increasingly important role in modern world economic development. The CII and amfori further commit to work collaboratively on a joint project on Women Empowerment in the textile and garment industry.
amfori is pleased to further collaborate in the areas of trade and investment as well as information sharing and other commercially orientated activities to the benefit of members from both organisations and the people affected by their operations. Following a discussion to combine efforts that began in 2017, this MoU will strengthen collaboration between actors that create critical links between buyers and producers.
India remains an important hub for many importers and exporters facilitating global trade along our members’ supply chain. amfori will continue to strengthen its network, capitalising on outreach in India.
