BEPI Celebrates the International Mother Earth Day

On the International Mother Earth Day 2015, the Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI) joins the call of the United Nations to raise global awareness on the impact that human activities have on the planet.
To reach a balance between economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations, it is necessary to foster respect for the Earth and acknowledge our responsibility to protect and restore these resources. Companies are the backbone of international economies and their contribution is essential for pursuing a sustainable development and growth; for this reason, they are as well confronted with high expectations to reduce their environmental footprint.

To support businesses in dealing with these challenges, the Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI) provides them with a practical framework where they work hand in hand with their producers to identify and address in a tailor-made manner specific environmental performance areas that require improvement.

Covering eleven different areas -such as Environmental Management System, Energy Use, Transport and Greenhouse Gases, Water Use, Waste Management, Land Use and Biodiversity- producers embark on an assessment and improvement process aimed at enhancing their performance and reducing environmental risks. Through BEPI, companies demonstrate their commitment to preserve the environment and its available resources and develop more sustainable global supply chains.
