In coalition with 15 European business organisations, representing a wide range of industry and service sectors, FTA has signed a joint statement calling the European Union and India for an ambitious trade agreement, ahead of the EU –India Summit taking place on Monday 15 April 2013.
FTA strongly believes that in order to keep pace with the increasing importance of bilateral trade, the EU and India have to create an even more business friendly environment by removing trade barriers and further opening up markets. For the sake of mutual growth it is essential that the EU and India cooperate more effectively to facilitate two-way trade and investment.
Therefore, the joint statement call upon the EU and India to achieve substantial progress in the negotiations for an ambitious agreement. An FTA would deliver significant economic benefits and contribute to the development of both the EU and India.
