FTA and USFIA Advocate for the Conclusion of a Comprehensive TTIP Agreement

21-04-2015

In a joint statement, the Foreign Trade Association (FTA) and the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) have expressed their support to the ongoing Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations and reiterated the importance of concluding an ambitious and far-reaching agreement.

Representing brands, retailers and importers based in the European Union and United States respectively, both organisations agree that such a milestone agreement is a win-win deal and would bring many benefits to the garment and textiles sector amongst others, as well as to both economies and their people by boosting growth and creating jobs.

TTIP presents a tremendous opportunity to achieve stronger market integration and the elimination of tariffs and reduction of technical barriers would improve business efficiency and reduce costs. Given the size and influence of trade across the Atlantic, this deal would contribute to the progressive strengthening of global rules and could serve as a model for other future agreements.
