During the Rio+20 Summit, world leaders agreed to a 'roadmap' towards a greener economy and setting sustainable development goals, reflecting various elements which have been highlighted during the Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum of the UN Global Compact. The latter has pointed out that companies are the main driver towards sustainable development and associations like the Foreign Trade Association (FTA) have been credited for driving sustainability forward. Through its business-driven initiatives like the Business Social Compliance Initiative, companies can take steps to better meet their corporate responsibility and help the society share accountability to improve social and environmental performance.
