FTA demands a stop to harmful duties imposed on Chinese ceramics

On 26 February, the European Commission proposed long-term import duties on ceramic tableware and kitchenware from China, even though the majority of EU member states were opposed it in November 2012 (read the press release). Although the duty level assigned to producers have been reduced compared to the provisional duties set in November, duties are still penalising imported Chinese tableware products by between 13.1 and 36.1 percent. Member States will have to vote on the proposed measures in the coming weeks. FTA will continue to give high priority to this investigation and maximum exposure in order to defend the interests of EU importers and their consumers towards available and affordable tableware in Europe.
