FTA has published the Autumn edition of its Trade Perspectives newsletter, bringing you analysis, news and commentary on evolutions in international trade policy as well as a roundup of FTA's latest activities in this arena.
This issue looks specifically at the prospects for EU commercial policy at the start of the new five-year term for the European Parliament, with an enlarged and much altered International Trade (INTA) Committee. This edition therefore provides an interview with INTA Chairman Bernd Lange who shares his thoughts on the characteristics and future aims of the new Committee. The next five years will be crucial to the strengthening of the EU as a world player in trade development – with this in mind, FTA’s "Road Map for EU Trade Policy", presented in this edition, details FTA's expectations for the period and what needs to be done to achieve that goal.
Our top story looks at the challenges and opportunities of EU commercial policy for the next five years. Finally, we share global import statistics which show the trends in this area which argues the importance of realising the size and diversity of imports to the EU.
