FTA Seminar on China

On 15 May, the FTA Seminar on China took place gathering FTA members all faced by common challenges when trading with China, these include regulatory cooperation, intellectual property matters as well as barriers surrounding intercultural communication. During the day presentations were conducted by retailers trading with China, Commissioners and academics who explored the political and legal environment of EU-China trade relations as well as provided practical tips on doing business in China. Participants were introduced to some of the best practices and common pitfalls while sourcing from China including developments in the customs environment, intercultural barriers and how to avoid counterfeit products. The subject of sustainability in China was also a hot topic during the day, with a presentation from FTA’s new initiative the Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI) to show how FTA is practically addressing the challenges related to environmental issues in the supply chain.
