On 8 December, FTA along with 14 other organisations, representing 34 countries and €20 trillion in combined turnovers, signed a joint letter to call on the World Trade Organization (WTO) members to show leadership and give new impetus to the multilateral trading system.
The organisations highlighted three main points for action:
- Safeguard the WTO system: Ensure that it stays the guardian of the trade rulebook
- Progress on agriculture and fisheries subsidies: Support LDCs and fight hunger
- Show that WTO can deliver: Take account of new trade environment
