On 12 June, at the Unleash Opportunity conference held in Amsterdam, we announced the selected finalists of the Members’ Award 2018 to recognize and celebrate their company’s achievements and share best practices. The award was divided into three values that underpin amfori’s mission: Collaboration, Leadership, and Excellence.
The winning company, Axfood from Sweden, demonstrated innovative and targeted collaborative work driving performance in their supply chains. Chosen for the category, Collaboration, the company improved working and living conditions in farms in Turkey; social and environmental conditions for smallholders in the basmati rice production in Pakistan as well as developed e-learning at workplaces in Thailand.
Receiving the prize, Kristina Areskug Bjurling said, “Winning this award means a lot for us at Axfood. Hopefully this recognition can be an inspiration for other companies to step up improvements in their supply chains.“
For the remaining categories, the other finalists include:
- Leadership: Coop Genossenschaft from Switzerland, for introducing effectively amfori BEPI Chemical Audit Management Tool in their supply chain. They showed diversity, innovation, and created processes for sustainable production through engagement with their relevant stakeholders.
- Excellence: Vinmonpolet from Norway for demonstrating excellence in their sustainability practice.
At amfori, we believe our members are the changemakers who have the power to positively impact the planet and people. The awards given acknowledge several companies that serve as role models for other companies and organisations to follow as they champion new business models and become sustainable leaders.
