New NCG Chairs Elected in Finland and Denmark

Following the retirement of Pirjo Heiskanen, elections took place to fill her role as the new NCG Chair. During the Finnish NCG meeting in Helsinki on 26 September,  FTA welcomed the new Chair, Marja Aho, CSR Manager at Alko.

Alko is a retailer with global supply chains and has been a member of FTA since 2011. Marja's role in the company involves engaging in networks, from national to global. Collaboration with stakeholders is a success factor when wanting to have an impact over supply chains. Nordic suppliers with their global connections are one of our most important stakeholder group.

Working within the BSCI framework has given me a good background to start working with responsible purchasing issues. I am very passionate about the idea to develop sustainable global supply chains. As the NCG Chair, I am responsible for helping to consolidate networks and join forces.’’

On 4 October, alongside the recent appointment of NCG Coordinator Gry Montiel, we announced the new Chair Pia Westergreen, Compliance Specialist at JYSK at the Danish NCG meeting in Horsens.

Pia is responsible for driving sustainability in the company’s supply chain. JYSK has been a member of FTA and involved with BSCI for nine years.

As the Danish NCG Chair, I plan to work towards greater cooperation between FTA and the Danish members including the exchange of information and experiences. Denmark is a large member country and it is crucial that we share our insights with each other.

We would like to thank Marja and Pia for their readiness to support member companies in Finland and Denmark over the next two years!
