SCIP Database: Guidance for Suppliers of Articles is Now Available

Starting from 5 January 2021 if you are producing, importing or distributing articles in the EU, you will be in scope to submit SCIP (Substances of Concern In articles, as such or in complex objects (Products)) notifications for all your articles containing REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) in concentration above 0.1% weight by weight. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published a guidance for you to better understand these obligations.

It encourages suppliers to already collect from your supply chain the information required. Although the demo of the database is not available yet (the demo is planned for 1st Quarter 2020), amfori is aware that there will be three ways to import information on the database, either:

  • through the ECHA submission portal (directly online)
  • by preparing the information offline using IUCLID 6 interface and upload and submit the information on the database
  • through system-to-system integration using XML format
