Switzerland’s Law to Reduce CO2 Faces Public Vote

The Federal Council and Parliament have drafted a CO2 law to further reduce CO2 emissions. However, a referendum has been filed against the law and a vote will now take place on 13 June. Supporters of the law believe that decisive action must be taken against climate change to prevent further damage and high costs related to climate breakdown.  Many countries have decided to take action, and Switzerland is also called upon to do so. The law strengthens climate protection and relies on a combination of financial incentives, investments, and new technologies. Climate-friendly behaviour is also encouraged and rewarded. The law will trigger orders for SMEs, create jobs and is socially fair.
