The final session of the Unleash Opportunity series: Access to Remedy for Vulnerable Groups, took place on 26 October 2021.
The webinar addressed the needs of vulnerable groups and the importance of considering these when designing an effective grievance mechanism. Participants learned about amfori’s approach to access to remedy and more concretely the amfori Speak for Change (supply chain grievance mechanism) Programme.
Vera Belazelkoska, Director of Programs at Ulula, gave insights and concrete examples as to how technology can play a role in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups and increasing their access to remedy.
Adelina Simanjuntak, Director of Social & Environmental Affairs at Adidas, shared Adidas’ experiences in setting up the Worker Grievance Platform in collaboration with their business partners in Vietnam. She discussed the challenges they faced and practices on how they overcame them when setting up the Worker Grievance Platform.
Mark Wielga, Director at Nomogaia, outlined the needs of vulnerable groups and how best to integrate these needs in the set-up of (a supply chain) grievance mechanism. Hereby, he emphasized the need to accommodate the feeling of fear the claimant feels by creating an environment of trust.
