In a bid to contribute positively to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and increase open trade, amfori, the Belgium-based leading global business association for open and sustainable trade, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have signed an agreement in Delhi (India).
The agreement will enable both organisations to jointly support their members as they seek to improve the sustainability of their supply chains. They will also work together to foster a policy environment that increases trade and economic ties between India and the European Union. Small and medium-sized companies will especially receive specific support from both organisations to unleash new opportunities in the global economy.
amfori brings together over 2,300 retailers, importers, brands and national associations representing a combined turnover of more than 1.7 trillion euros. The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), a leading supply chain management system is also one of the initiatives of amfori which is being followed by hundreds of apparel exporters. CII works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of industry in India, partnering industryand government alike through advisory and consultative processes.
